After seeing the horrendous number of homeless people in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside,
we plan to re-visit Vancouver, BC
to make a project that will help continue to prevent youth from experimenting with crystal meth and other substances. We will interview people on East Hastings
Street and in Victoria’s
downtown core who are using drugs and/or alcohol. We will ask them questions
such as what would you say to youth who want to start using drugs, which substance did you first use and how has your life
been affected since you’ve become involved with drugs? We will then review,
edit and distribute the videos to middle and high school CAPP programs in Canada this fall.
In addition, we will be doing a free needle exchange with the participants, if needed, and handing out healthy snacks,
which are good for people with HIV and Hepatitis C.
